South of the Border into Mexico

Wow we wanted to share some of our pictures and adventures when we traveled into Mexcio for the day! We had so much fun looking at all the various items for sale and loved hearing "lady, today for you is half price".

Of course we never even paid half price but it was fun. We did buy some turquoise and silver jewelry for Ruth ann and our girls. Feltus says next year he will go back for one of those "Rolex watches" for $20.

We found a lovely small patio courtyard cantina and took a break with sodas and nachos. And our tummy's did just fine! There were even guitars playing for background music and lovely sunshine to feel on our backs.

The real adventure however occurred when it was time to re enter the USA. We lined up with the others and it took almost 3 hours to get to the border crossing and show our passports and declare our small purchases. We struck up a conversation with others in line with us and discovered that some of them had come for dental work. There are many places to buy medicine and have your teeth worked on or eyes corrected. I think we will take care of those things in our part of the world.

Back to reality now with rainy days and cloudy skies. But still our memories of our January adventure keep us warm.

Adventures in Quartzsite Arizona

We arrived in Quartzsite to meet our friends, Dick and Loraine Bourne, to find out exactly what is going on in this desert area in January. This is really desert - flat, not much vegetation and we are sure very hot in the summer, but in January it is wonderful.

Quartizsite in January and February becomes a small town where hundreds, or should we say thousands of RVers come to dry camp and attend swap meets, and various shows (RV etc.) We were not prepared for the number of RV units we saw. There were 5th wheels, trailers and most of them seemed to be motor homes with bicycles, or scooter chairs and it seemed to us that most of them had little dogs! We saw dogs in strollers and dogs in slings worn across their owners bodies.

We joined the throngs, shopping for deals and items we could not live without! HA!! It was fun to shop and look and enjoy being with friends.
We did not haul our RV this time and were lucky enough to find a place to stay about 70 miles east. Wow!

Leave Utah for Arizona in January

I have tried to post this so many times I will keep this short!

We left our home in Cache Valley to venture down to Arizona and meet some friends and FIND SOME WARMTH!

When we left our home this is how it looked

When we arrived in Arizona and the Virgin River Gorge we were thrilled to find some sunshine and see some beauty.
That evening when we arrived in Nevada it was 70 degrees! Short sleeves and sandals - here we come!

The end of 2008 and January 2009

I was surprised at how long it had been since I posted anything on our blog. I guess it because I have sent links to some pictures.

We had a very nice Christmas. We went down to our daughter's home and had Christmas eve with her family. Her married children were there and we had a joyful evening and a wonderful dinner. Christmas morning was really fun. We had not spent Christmas morning with a family in years. We had a great time watching stockings opened and packages unwrapped. I will post a couple of pictures to share with you.

That day the area had a major snowstorm and we headed for home before it hit. The only problem was we drove right into the storm. We had to turn on our GPS to find our exit and the roads and signs were completely covered. We were grateful to arrive safely to our warm home.

The day after Christmas our oldest daughter, Mary Lou, and her family arrived to spend a week with us and ski in the mountains. We had a good time getting re acquainted with our Texas grandkids. They are growing up so much and the girls are beautiful.

One day Scott and his family came down and Julie came up and we had three of our children together for the day. We missed Ali and are looking forward to having her come visit in the summer. Scott's family brought a Wii and we had a grand time playing with that.

Here we are at the middle of January. We have continued our mostly daily effort of working out each day and are feeling much more a part of our ward. Felt is serving as one of the cub leaders for the yong boys about 8 years old "Wolf Cubs." I am serving as a Relief Society Teacher and enjoying the opportunity to learn and grow from studying before I teach. We both have Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching routes and never have to leave our development to complete our assignments.

I will include a shot of our new living room arrangement and one of the Elk herd that is fed over the winter not far from our home.

We are planning to leave at the end of this week to go to Arizona to be with friends down there and to experience doing south for part of the winter. We only expect to be gone about a week this time. Maybe longer next year.
